Intended Runners For This Week 19/02/2017
lukeschembri , Sunday 19 February 2017 - 10:34:43 //

We have an exciting week next week with our first runner on Doha on Saturday. Before then however, with have two potential runners here first.

Roundabout Magic is due to run at Lingfield, on Friday, in the 17.05 32Red Casino Handicap, over 5f, with Nicky Mackay doing the steering. This Zebedee colt was last seen running on Feb 8th at Kempton. He broke with his usual speed but Hollie Doyle took a pull and tried to hold him up. He settled a lot better than he had done previously with these tactics, despite still being slightly keen. He went well for most of the race and his pilot started to push him along when turning for home. He looked to have every chance when coming down the outside of the field but was fairly one paced in the last furlong and ended up finishing fourth of six. He has come out of that race in good form and is ready to run again. He has been dropped a further 2lb for that effort which should help over a track and trip he won his maiden at.

Presumido could take his chance at Lingfield on Saturday, in the 14.40 Sun Bets On The App Store Handicap, over 1m. This Iffraaj gelding was last seen running well at Lingfield last weekend. He broke well but was held up at the rear of the field by John Egan. He travelled well at the rear of the field and was always keeping tabs at the rear of the field. Turning for home he got a nice split up the rail as the field fanned out. Just as he looked as though he was coming with a run he got a bit short of daylight and that put pay to his chances. It was a good run and he was not beaten far by the winning most all weather horse this year. If he takes his chance he should run well again.

Mr Scaramanga has been invited out to Qatar and will take up his invite this Saturday in the Al Biddah Mile (Group 2) in Doha. He had been campaigned for a stint in Dubai but after winning his Conditions race narrowly, when odds on, he failed to sparkle after that. He was last seen finishing last at Newcastle which was a disappointing effort as we thought he had a good chance. The winner looks to be a Pattern class horse so time will tell how that form works out. He has been in good order at home since then and it will be very exciting to have our first runner in Doha. The race has a very international feel to it and we haven’t a clue of the form of the other horses in the race. It will be a good experience for all whatever happens.
